Description

Hey, guyz

So, I want to share my default process on how I go about working on my comic pages.

No one asked for it –As far as I can remember XD–, but, here it is, anyway!

#1 Storyboard Doodle:

After I'm done storyboarding the written chapter(NAME), I start this stage, which I use to clarify where I want the characters, the speech balloons, BG elements, etc. The most important is to place the proportions of everything inside the panel where intended them to be.

#2 Clean Sketch:

This can be the most time-consuming part for me, especially if I want to save a lot of time later. I often get really pissed at myself when I'm doing the line work, because, I didn't take the extra time to solve very important problems while at this stage (DAMN YOU PAST KIDI!!).

If I have the clean sketch all right, the next task can be the most joyful ride XD.

#3 Line Work:

Is basically copying the clean sketch and playing with line weights and some shadows.

#4 Background Coloring:

This part can take a while or not, depending on the amount of details I need to be presented. What's important for me is establishing a good read of the characters and where the interaction is taking place.

#5 Flatting the Characters:

The flat colors for every element on the characters. Used to hate this stage, but, now it's alright.

#6 Shading (Shadow and Light):

Playing with textures, temperature and form. Regular cel-shading process. See: fav.me/d8rvikn

#7 Effects and Final Touches:

This is where the fun of working on the page stops, because the page is done. kha ha ha.

Gave some blurs, ambient lighting and motion if needed. This page was actually pretty simple in comparison with a more action filled page. (Those are HAAAAARTH) (-_-).

After the noise layer is done, I go and letter the page in Illustrator; which is another ordeal on its own.
